General HVAC Questions

How often do I change my air filter?

Every 30 to 60 days is a good gauge. It may vary depending on efficiency of the filter and return duct locations.

What type of filter should I be using?

We recommend pleated air filters with a Merv rating of 8 or higher. Some filters can be very restrictive. Please reach out for proper sizing and advice on which type is best for your system.

Should I cover my AC condenser in the winter time?

If you are operating a heat pump in the winter season then definitely not. I usually recommend just covering the top only on the AC condenser. Do Not wrap them or use a cover that completely seals it. It cannot breathe and the mice LOVE when you do that.

Should I be servicing my oil fired boiler or furnace every year?

YES! We provide maintenance for oil fired boilers, furnaces and water heaters.

Is it ok to run my oil tank below ¼ on the gauge?

Please do your best not to. If you have an older tank with a good amount of sludge on the bottom it can easily get caught in the filter and oil supply lines.
